TES-1160 Introductory Astronomy: Exploring Our Place in the Cosmos


This course in astronomy is intended for students looking to gain an appreciation for the wonders of the universe from its origins to the vastness of its current expanse. Students will gain foundational knowledge of the cosmos, exploring celestial phenomena from our solar system to the most distant reaches of observable space. Key topics include the history of the universe, our solar system, Earth and its moon, stars from birth to death, galaxies, the mysteries of dark matter and energy and astrobiology. Many of these topics are reinforced through recent discoveries in space exploration.
