In
module seven our goal is to begin learning how
to assess the body. We begin by assessing someone
who is standing. This exercise will help us to
learn techniques to qualitatively analyze someone
doing a sport or exercise skill.
The objective for this module
is to complete an analysis of the standing posture
of two individuals using the information presented
in Chapter 14 of the text and the
Posture Screening Guidelines.
The best way to be successful
at this type of analysis is to develop a series
of steps through which you go. You might want
to do something like the following:
- Look at the overall standing posture.
- Assess whether the person is distributing
their weight evenly on both feet.
- Look to see if the plumb line passes through
the proper landmarks.
- Look for abnormalities that indicate a problem,
medical condition or injury.
