    1. Final Project Selection
    2. Review the Module 10 Assignments page to preview what will be expected for the final project. This week, you must select a physical movement or sport skill and submit it to the instructor for approval. The motion or sport skill must be approved to make sure it is not too complex for the scope of this course. You must fill out the Step 1 Form that outlines what you will do for the project. Click to download. Submit the completed form to your mentor on or before Sunday of Week 8. Your mentor will provide feedback or approval on your project selection by the end of Week 11.

    1. Written Assignment 2
    2. You are to complete an analysis of standing posture for two individuals. Please write your findings in a document and submit it to your mentor on or before Sunday of Week 8. Digital photos should of course be submitted electronically. If photos must be sent through the mail, send them as soon as possible to allow time for grading. Even you are sending your photos through the mail, please submit your written assignment electronically and inform the instructor that the photos are coming by mail. Photos must be postmarked no later than Saturday of Week 8.

    ANALYSIS:
Here are the steps for the analysis:

    1. Ask one male and one female volunteer to allow you to take photographs of them standing so you can complete this assignment.

    2. Instruct your volunteers to wear minimal clothing. Men might wear shorts or a bathing suit. Women might wear a bathing suit or leotard.

    3. Make a plumb line out of string and a small weight tied to the bottom. Suspend the plumb line from a point taller than either of your subjects so they can stand next to the plumb line. You need to be able to take photographs with your subjects behind the plumb line.

    4. Take two photographs or digital images of each subject standing next to a plumb line. Take one image from the front and one from the left side. Make sure you can see the entire body from head to feet. Be sure you can see the plumb line between you and the subject. The plumb line needs to be positioned so you can reference body landmarks to the plumb line. Be close enough to see everything, but far enough away so you get the top of the head and bottoms of the feet in the photos.

    5. Write an assessment of the standing posture from the front and side for each person. Refer to the textbook for information on factors related to posture, principles applied to posture and postural screening.

    6. Transmit the digital images electronically. If you are using a camera with film, try to scan the photos into the computer and submit them as attachments with your written analysis. If you can’t scan the photos into the computer, write your name on the backs and send them to the mentor to be used while grading your postural analysis.
