SOS-4400 Terrorism

This course provides an overview of the roots of state and non-state sponsored terrorism. You will gain an appreciation for the sensitive nature of defining terrorism and analyze the roles of politics, religion, and ideology. You will explore the impact of terrorism on society and the roles it plays in insurgency, civil war, and organized crime. Further, you will analyze the evolving relationship between terrorism and technology as well as ways to combat terrorism and promote homeland security. Finally, you will look to identify and predict future trends in terrorism.

Advisory: This is an upper-level course. Students should have knowledge equivalent to an introductory course in social sciences.
