NUR-7610 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Roles and Contemporary Issues
This course focuses on mental health theoretical concepts and underpinnings, its contributions to the evolution of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner role, and the transition to current practice standards in psychiatry, as well as the specific contributions of Hildegard Peplau. In addition, the advanced practice role and various psychiatric settings will be discussed at length. Other discussion topics will include ethical and legal implications of practice, ethical dilemmas, effective conflict resolution, and considerations specific to psychiatric practice.
